[ Projects ]

Our project consists of fitting a semi-transparent roof over the right part of the building in order to conserve the views of the chimneys, and the left side will be restored in a traditional fashion in order to provide rooms for exhibitions and other animations.

The idea is to keep the chateau as it is today, in ruins with its vegetation and its crumbling walls, but to stabilize it so that there is no further decay.
As a result, visitors can walk safely 15 meters above the void of the interior in order to discover this little-known authentic site.

Already completed

- The 3 walkways fixed to the south wall, giving close access to the chimneys. An extension gives access to the dungeon and the north latrines.
- Felling of trees in the courtyard (to the right of the entrance) in order to exploit the view of the château from the hamlet outside and also from the tower inside.
- Better reception area with wooden barriers to help control the circulation. Planting of flowers.
- Providing new information panels covering several themes : Jacquou, architecture, archaeology, history, medieval latrines etc.
- Realization of a temporary semi-transparent roof over the Grand Salle and the body of the building. As a result 80% of the château is now protected from the rain.

In the near future

- Updating the construction permit for the roof of the château. A double necessity in order to preserve and keep the site clean.
- Temporary roofing over the two towers.
- Leveling off uneven walls
- Fixing temporary windows in order to keep out the humidity.
- A cover over the dig in the courtyard (250m2).
- Presentation of the results of the archaeological digs, which should be ready in 2007.
